A commitment to our islands

Preserving nature, culture and communities

Pearl Resorts is a collection of exceptional destinations where Polynesian art de vivre reveals itself in all its authenticity. Our approach to hospitality operates in complete harmony with the cultures, people and ecosystems that are the soul of these islands. We are committed to minimizing our environmental impact, to sustainably preserve French Polynesia’s fenua (or ‘homeland’), its communities, landscapes and marine life.

Our main principles

  • Preservation of ecosystems

Our presence carries an environmental cost, and we take full responsibility for it. The lagoons, coral reefs and motu around our properties are living ecosystems under real pressure from climate change and human activity. We aim to preserve indigenous species, conserve water, and protect vulnerable areas from our impact.

  • Celebrating Polynesian heritage

Pearl Resorts draws its identity from the cultures and traditions of French Polynesia, whose languages, artisanship, stories, music, dance and island history form our living heritage. Each property reflects the unique character of its home island, welcoming artisans and artists into its everyday activities.

  • Local development

We believe the value we create should remain in this region. Our teams are drawn from the fenua, we invest in training, and prioritise promoting from within, so that employment, skills and opportunities circulate within the communities that host us. We favour local producers, artisans and short supply chains wherever possible.

  • A spirit of continuous improvement

Standards are only meaningful when they are maintained, season after season. We measure our energy and water consumption, our waste management, and the origin of our purchases, and make adjustments accordingly. The same discipline extends to the guest experience itself, in which we bring guests into close contact with the fenua, its culture and its people.

  • Espace Bleu and Blue Flag certification

Coral reefs are among the most precious natural assets of our properties. They shape the underwater landscapes of our lagoons and contribute to the international reputation of French Polynesia. We have chosen to go beyond simply reducing our impact. Alongside Espace Bleu, we regularly monitor our coral gardens and proactively raise awareness about their preservation. Our efforts have helped the resort achieve Blue Flag certification, which we have held since 2011.

  • Sustainable farming

Our fa'a'apu (or ‘vegetable garden’) and orchard are at the heart of our sustainable farming approach. The estate is home to more than 140 fruit trees, 100 banana trees and 40 papaya trees. Our vegetable garden supplies all the fresh herbs used in our kitchens, along with nearly 1.9 tonnes of fruit and vegetables each year, with a target of 2.5 tonnes. Nearly one in every two dishes features a Polynesian main ingredient. Every day, our teams work with local farmers and fishermen to bring the bounty of the fenua to the plate.

  • Apiculture

We maintain five beehives at Le Bora Bora: two in our fa’a’pu and three in our orchard. A healthy hive can host up to 60,000 bees, foraging within a radius of nearly four miles. Beyond honey production, with our first harvest expected in late 2026 or early 2027, these hives support pollination across our estate, helping improve the quality and productivity of our crops.
